New KT150 from New Sensor
« on: November 25, 2013, 11:03:51 am »
New big tube, 70w plate dissipation, they say close to 300w from a single pair but $150.00 a tube.

Click on the featured product on the right side;

http://www.newsensor.com/default.aspx

Now I can build my own amp for this here;   :m2    and not have to beg Ritchie 200 to rent me his Marshall Major.

This is new sensors website.  These prices are full on retail.  Protecting their distributors.  The Tube Store had the KT150 for $95 ea.  Still high, but not $300 for 2.

I want a couple.

A pair in push/pull AB grid bias might make a very nice bass amp?

Or 1 heck of a stereo tube amp, 2 mono blocks, 4 power tubes total, for the house.

ORRRRR, a SE Champ with a +20 pound OT???????

I wonder how they sound?  I remember the old Yugo KT90s sounded like crap.  They had a lot of power handling and grunt, but that was it - no magic.  I have heard the KT120's sound really nice - as I'm sure Ed can attest to.  Boy, lot's of potential headroom with these bottles!  That would also be a good workout with some hefty iron to take advantage of the power.

Brad, there is no amount of money you could give me that I would allow you to defile my amp with your accordion.  I'm sorry, but that is on the same level as a Tele......

Jim, you are absolutely correct.  The KT120 is awesome and from what I have read most are not seeing any extra wattage, but mine running 565 plate with the KT120 they give a nice bump.  I will get some of the 150's as soon as I can find a reliable supplier.  I have a little concern as to current draw, but not worried enough not to try them. :l2:

The KT-88 or the KT-120 is one hell of a tube for guitar.  Yes, it is loud and yes I am too old. :laugh: :laugh:

Locomotive comes to mind.
