I love corn bread made in a cast iron skillet, I make it on a gas grill that way too.

(Salt back? Is that salt pork like you use to make Boston beans or any pot of beans?)

yup. what it's called in the southern states. sorry 'bout that!

it's an abbreviation for salt bacon - auto correct.;-)

No need to say your sorry, America my brother is a big place and terms are different across our land.

I think another name for that pork cut is called "fat back"?

I think we should say why we love cast iron corn bread? That way you get crust on the bottom and the top!    :laugh:

The way I learned to make it (now mind you I'm a Chicago boy and my mom was a good cook but she cooked northern recopies) is to heat the skillet way up high and then drop in your fat and then drop in your batter.

Happy Thanksgiving all! I can still move this year. I didnt eat too much or get sleepy from the turkey. There were nothing but small birds this year. 16 lb. Good enough for me. 23-4 lb is what i always look for but no luck. I am thankful for having good and helpful friends on this forum and the man above. Eat up!
