LED strip - tape lights

FWIW: WalMart is selling (in the Xmas tree lights aisle, AKA garden center) a "16' LED Tape Light" for about $15. Thin flat strip of White LEDs with a wall-plug.

I had an incandescent rope-light around the kitchen cabinets and door. It was dying. Also floppy and awkward.

I ran the Tape Light the same way, except flat to the trim and cabinet (with included straps and screws). Ran very neat. Is brighter than the inky rope-light. Probably far less power.

Drawback: STINKS of mold-release oils. Rubbed it down, little change. Hope that wears off.

I was waiting for LED strips to come down in price a bit

Found this LED strip light at Walmart that has sticky backing which would make installation quite a bit easier

60 LEDS per meter, not bad

Quite a bit more $$ than the Xmas tree LED, but it's a one time install unlike my rope lights that have replaced twice in 10 years

I need to split it up into smaller sections and series them together like I did my rope lights, which is a bit of work, but the results are very nice

My local Walmart did not have the LED strip light, but I found a deal on Amazon

$8.01 and free shipping for 5 meters
You can shorten the long strips by removing 3 LED segments
Each segment has a 150 ohm current limiter resistor

They run on 12 volts and you have to supply the wall wart which is no big deal. Or they also sell a 12 volt supply
They have 3m sticky tape backing so they attach easily
You can solder multiple strands together
If you look at the pics, each segment has copper pads

Not my favorite color. They seem to have a bit of a bluish tint
If you go into the merchants store you can find lots of other LED strips in different colors

They now have have LED strips that you can change the colors with a remote control
