For our friend Ed's recovery
« on: June 24, 2014, 12:14:06 am »
Hey Ed,

You probably own this album but it's still great.

On the 1st song, 'Third Rate Romance', I've loved the 'double stop lead' guitar parts for 30 years+.

If any one else has not heard it, PLEASE take a listen. Every song comes out of a different bag, blues/Jazz, country, R&B, blue grass, rock, gospel, even Caribbean.  (Sluckey, Ella B, 2nd second is swamp music with trem!)

AND I love the lead singers voice over his lyrics. (Remember fool that I am I think that the 'song' is king (small k) and not the players.)

Get well soon Ed!

This link has 2 songs that have both become absolute favorites of mine in the last 2 weeks. I never new they existed before.    :BangHead:

(Go ahead and laugh at me Ed for missing the boat all these years.   :m13     )

The 1st has made it to my top 5 all time songs, I love the lyric and how the piano player 'undergirds' the lyric! The 2nd, to me is great too, I LOVE the pedal steel (You out there SG?) And again the piano player!

Never make fun.  There is another version of 3rd rate by Sammy Kershaw.  Sammy was in George Jones band and did a little singing when George did not show up a time or 2.  I have always loved the song and is responsible for a lot of my playing style.

Back a few years ago I would play this one as well.

And if you can't do it live, you can't do it.
