Jansen Bassman50 hot rod do-up
« on: December 31, 2014, 01:04:09 pm »
Got a derelict Jansen Bassman50 carcass a wee while back that's been sitting on my bench waiting for an idea and some spare time. These are amps that were made in NZ in the 1960s and initially were based on copies of the Fender BF Bassman amps (back in the days of tariffs on imports). By the time the Bassman 50 was made the circuit has morphed slightly and had a separate screen winding on the PT, and different tone stacks, a cathodyne PI with post PI gain stage, and a massive OT.

Anyway the piece of junk I've set myself to fix was a bit rusty inside and minus the OT, so I'd never get the original vibe out of it because nobody makes those OTs anymore, so I've decided to re-purpose it into a Blonde Bassman circuit. I started by gutting the chassis yesterday. Salvaged a few mustard caps. Now to clean up the rust with something.
A bus stops at a bus station. A train stops at a train station. On my desk, I have a work station.

Yeah, I'm interested too...

Looks like the file sizes are WAY too big to post....but they say that they are small in KB's ( I don't know how that's possible )

Here's some EL34 assistance:

Here's some links

Links were posted with image tags (use the url tags instead). Also, the NZGuitars Forum that you're linking to apparently doesn't like direct linking to the images, and corrupts them in some manner when you do so. So just post a link to your thread on that forum, which will probably work out just fine.

A-ha!! Apparently you have to be a registered member and sign-in to see the images at that forum. Which is why none of the image posts worked.

Best bet: Upload them from scratch to your original posts in this thread.
