old pro reverbs with vibrolux stickers

I own a 66 Fender Pro Reverb. It says Pro Reverb on the face, it's the right speakers, original, right size cabinet. It belonged to my dad and I remember being about 16 or so when he bought it and I believe he bought it new. He played his Gretch Chet Atkins Country Gentleman through it. (yes, I was 16 in 1966)

Now I want to sell it to by other gear and I find the sticker in the cabinet says Vibrolux. How did that sticker end up and a pro reverb amp sold new?

This exact same question got asked here in 2013. Nobody ever came up with an explanation. I think since the amp has the original speakers in it it could be very valuable. I'm worried that this thing with the sticker could queer things.

Most likely just a factory goof with the label. We've seen that before. Any answer you get will be pure speculation. I would not be concerned about it.

If the sticker is original I can't believe it would lower the value to anyone. It is kind of neat actually. An interesting bit of history that Fender put the wrong label on it.

Sure it is just speculation, but it is not that uncommon for the tube chart to be incorrect.  I have a 64 Super Reverb that was purchased new I received from my father as well.  It states it is a 6G4a circuit and has the correct tube lineup for a 6G4a, but the amp is an AA763 circuit.

The amp has never been out of his or my house and looks new.  Had someone tell me once that it devalues the amp and I said it certainly does not.  In reality the old saying goes everything is for sale for the right amount of money.

I can assure you if I were selling the amp I would ask the premium price for it because you will not see a nicer one.  If someone offered me less because of the tube chart not matching I would simply say it makes it worth more and raise the price on the great negotiator.

HBP, I saw something a few weeks ago I did not know about.  A Brownface Super with a reversed control knobs.  I am sure you know of it.  I looked inside and it said 6G4 of course.  I had never noticed my amp having the wrong chart until I saw this amp.  I was inspecting mine to see if anything was different since it was a very early Super Reverb.

No such luck.  I think I can get you the photo later when I get home.

I have heard of this tube chart many times and the lore is always the same.  How cheap Leo Fender was that he used the old charts he had.  I think these are simply mistakes.

Photos of the 64.  Couple of things that differentiate the 63-64 from the rest.  Jensen Q10's and notice the gray power cable and Foot switch cable.  Also the dress washers on the back panels.

Also I did not notice and date codes.  On my other Fenders there are 2 Letters stamped on the tube chart that give the month and year.  The production run number is missing and nothing was ever written.  Normally there are numbers written in pencil.

And it has the death cap and you can plug it in anyway you want.  With the cap lifted and the polarity wrong the chassis measures less than 3 volts, but the amp does get more floor noise.

Another thing I had never noticed until I took the photos.  The wood has a more red tint than even my 65 Deluxe and the grain is more coarse like a tweed.  Fender must have begun using s different kind of pine right around this time period.

I'm mainly an acoustic guitar player. I want to turn it into something more appropriate to what I play.

Yes but if it's in mint condition like the other amp and only the speaker has been changed, it's still worth a lot.

I now have it up on craigslist and the question has come up already. I'm going to take a chance here that moderators will see i'm not putting the url up here as spam or to attract a buyer, but because there are 13  photos in the posting most of which are pretty hi res including one that have chassis an part numbers.
