Layout checkup
« on: April 16, 2016, 06:34:49 am »
Hey.
Here's a link to a layout of an amp I'm planning to build.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/rkxw20kckug6966/layout%20checkup.pdf?dl=0
It's a bit similar to the Hoso56, but I'm using an ef86 in the front.
Mostly I'd like to hear your thoughts on the whole tonestack layout.
There shouldn't be any trouble putting these components so close together, or?
Any other trouble anyone can spot?

Regards
Anders

Hey mate, Cool drawing
These layout drawings are a little hard to follow. You need to have a schematic to compare to.
It all looks fine, just need to follow a few rules.

You could move the OT closer to the PT to shorten the wires to the tube sockets.
Also, you have .1r resistors on your heater supply, these should be 100r.  :icon_biggrin:

Yep.  :icon_biggrin:

Looks like you could move the output speakers jacks away from the preamp side of the chassis towards the PT/power supply (PSU) end of the chassis. And move the OT more to the middle of the chassis instead of so close to the rear edge of the chassis.

What are the measurements of your chassis?

Thanks for the replies :-)
The two 0.1 rsistors are not artificial center taps. They are there to bring down the volts to the heaters. Not sure they needed, but i usually draw them in just in case.

Regardig the ot, i put it there because i was worried that it might affect the vvr circuit. Whats your thoughts on that?

That's right.
Here's a link to a schematic I drew up.

Bump.
Anyone got any experience on how close you can put the ot wires to the vvr circuit, without trouble??
