Little Giant amp demo
« on: October 01, 2016, 03:50:11 pm »
I haven't provided any fodder in a while and don't think I ever shared this one or amp before? I designed and built it about 6 years ago and did a quick demo almost a year back.

It's just a simple single ended design using a single twin triode to be used with a "power" tube of either a 6dl5, 6ar5, or 6aq5 giving an output of between 3-5 watts with those. Controls are VTB and a 3-way voicing (cathode biasing) switch. There's a tone stack lift and clipping control also. The schem wasn't revised & before I learned to use jsch but gives the basic idea.

Wow, that sounds great!  You know I like that "clean" overdrive and this sounds real nice with no splat or quick loss of distortion when you let the chord ring out - hard to do without VOLUME!!!  Just ask Pete Townsend and his Hiwatts....  What speaker?  You need to do a good recording so I can headphone it!  As good as it sounds, I doubt the cell phone is doing it any favors!  Nice job! :worthy1:

Thanks you guys you are being too kind. I sort of was "asking for it" being hypocritical of my demo comments prior. And coming from such a "wattage challenged" amp not to mention non-UL kt88's Mr Jeembob...and Brad & Jeff...always the gentlemen.

Jim - I think I used a Scumback H75-PVC temporarily in an empty combo cab?
