100 watt Fender..Too MUch Compression??
« on: March 12, 2017, 06:29:09 pm »
You guys helped me turn my 100 Fender PA into several amps.  1stock, 1Blackface twin and 1 chain with the remaining two amps.
The amp has a master volume and reverb.

I don't know it kind of sounds boxy, like compressed not open.  Is there anything I can do to change that?

Thanks ahead,
Terry

there is, but a schematic might help, you need to "see" your signal path to see where things get wonky.
Went Class C for efficiency

did you try another speaker cab ?
Don't miss the Woodstock experience : ''FORTY YEARS AFTER'' at Club Soda,  in Montreal, august the 17th and 18th and october the 27th. Fifteen musicians onstage.  AWESOME !
P.S.: call me Alvin.

I don't have something I can put up.  It's a Fender 100 watt PA head.  Open back cab with 2 jensens, 1 ceramic, 1 alnico.

Thanks

What kind of NFB circuit did you implement as well?  I hear a big difference with NFB circuits personally, and just changing a single value there usually "open" things up IMO! Also as Colas pointed out, I'd run it out to something known to sound beefcake, like a buddies 1960B or something  :icon_biggrin:  At least you will know if the Amp itself is culprit or if it's just the box.
