TV cart conversion

Hey guys. I converted this TV cart to a speaker cab. Short story and a few bigger pics here...

Hoping to find a 12" speaker with strong tight bottom and clear top end for my Hampeg. Looking for a clean sound. Any ideas?

IIRC found mine @ daton audio, seems specs were 65W ~~90spl, flag-like magnet sticker white background 
when I play bedroom to afternoon barbeque volume, all you hear is the eminence, the cream back wakes up at annoy the neighbors, nobodies home volume; if that helps

we might both be 1/2 deaf, but the the 1/2 you have left is probably better than mine for guitar sounds, since you can actually play  .
once the tornado warnings quit, i'll try and snap a pic, if the barn makes it 

I just realized the speaker box is in the attic, says V1216 if that helps, my wife wants me to seek shelter...but I got a great view upstairs

I know frequencies, not notes  .  It reminds me of late 50's early 60's rolas only with balls if that helps any.

I find with Class A runnin square waves  brings out the spikey, shrill highs, but the guys with guitars, say it's fine n play with their end of the TS

Right around the time you helped me figure out that I liked the sound of pushing square waves in Class A. 

I built a couple of those EV Thiele cabs and needed a speaker. I found the EVM-12L a bit too revealing for my lack of talent.
The EM12 has this nice "bouncy" feel to it. That's the best way I can describe it as an ar-tiste' might. It's just a little more "laid back" than the EV that I would describe as being "in your face".

I currently possess 2 of these that I purchased in a used 2x12 cab. If I put them back in I wouldn't want to carry it.
Both of them are FOR SALE 'cause I aint getting any cleaner anytime soon.

of this speaker in D-style amps.

That's a very beefy looking speaker Jeff! I liked the sound clicks I heard on the eminence website. I would have never thought to look under the pro audio section.

I remember reading Jeff's thoughts and hearing the demo on that speaker when I was deciding on my Legend EM12.
I mistakenly assumed that the EM12 was a "guitar voiced" rebranding of the Delta Pro 12.
The EM12 was a new offering at the time and now that I look at the frequency response chart I can see a pretty substantial difference.
Makes me wonder how different they actually sound side by side. 

I think we need a Columbia House for speakers, like a speaker of the month club.

Unfortunately, I did not do any rhythm on this recording, but I did hit a few low notes on the solo and you can hear how well they hold together, IMO.
I used the Delta Pro on this recording. Solo is mediocre at best and not very creative or interesting BUT you can get something of a picture of how the speaker sounds.

It's more than a Tone Tubby alnico, a 15" WGS alnico, a Celestion Blue alnico or Gold and just about any other alnico or ceramic speaker I can think of.

What amp do you use it with? Not your AC15 or Princeton.

Finally got a speaker for the tv cart. Thanks to SILVERGUN. It's a beast! Sounds good with the Hampeg. Didn't help my playing though.

Well, you know I like different speakers and even though I have sold 14 amps, I still have more.  Seriously, I make extension cabintes and use different speakers in them.  Mainly single 12's work all around.  Sometimes I need a speaker that is almost impossible to distort.  The EV12L does NOT sound good to my ears except for playing clean and round tones.  It lends itself more towards the bottom end.  And even thought I am not a huge fan of Zack Wild, with all the high gain he uses you can still hear every note he plays.  Exception, I do think his solo in Mama I am Coming Home he played for Ozzy was great.


For instance, Hendrix's Little Wing sounds good no matter where you have the selector.  It is very much like a Full Range JBL, but tends to not pass any shrill highs.  Not quite as good as a Altec 417, but still affordable.


In order for a clean speaker I prefer the Altec 417, JBL D120, and then the EV.  I also like the old EV SRO/12 Alnico, but again getting rare and expensive.


I also have one in a Mesa Mark I.  Yes, cranked it is painful, but they sound really good playing open chord voicing and cascading solos.


To me, a speaker change is much more effective than anything else once an amp is tweaked to my liking.  Sluckey was wanting a speaker for his amp, The Hampeg and was using a Celestion loaded Sunn cabinet and had one of the finest clean tones I have heard and I just thought this would work well.

Finally got a speaker for the tv cart. Thanks to SILVERGUN. It's a beast! Sounds good with the Hampeg. Didn't help my playing though.
