RIP Roy Clark :(

Another icon lost, this time the legendary Roy Clark has passed at 85 due to complications with pneumonia.
To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism. To steal from many is research.

So sad, but 85 is a pretty good run.

One of my all time favorites and the man who brought about my respect for country musicians.

May he truly rest in peace.

Yeha I just posted this to ampgarage.  I also remember hee haw fondly as a kid, even though I am not a fan of most country, I love the guitar playing (It's the singing style I'm not fond of)  I do remember how incredible he was on the guitar.  I also love me some pedal steel like our man Mr Skaggs plays... magical stuff.

Seems another legend goes weekly lately ;(

Roy would bite that tongue in the side of his mouth and get that pick just flying.  I remember the first time I saw him play, but I was sort of young.  I remember he was playing an offset Fender.

Later you would see him playing one of those beautiful Hollow Bodied Gibsons.  He seemed to favor the Byrdland and I like them as well.  I have only gotten to play one once.  They have a short scale for a gibson a 23.5.  Sometimes he would use a L5-CES blue burst with Gold Hardware.

Great Talent!

Charo said one of the greatest compliments she ever got was from Roy.  A very fine accomplished flamenco guitarist, Charo picked up one of Roy's banjos (had never played one before) and he could not believe she could easily finger pick as fast as he could and he raved about her guitar playing.  She said she was honored.  Another great gone...
