I recently played a little outdoor party and my brother-in-law was sitting right in front of my amp with his iphone recording a couple songs. I have been promising a clip of my rig for a while and thought this captured it pretty good.
It's a Warmoth chambered TELE with a Duncan 'Lil 59 in the bridge through a Mesa preamp/ TC G system into my two single ended power amps, each with their own 1x12 cab.
The one cab is sealed and has an Eminence EM12 and was pointed at my drummer which was away from the recorder. The cab you're mainly hearing is a open back with a Fane Alnico 100 watter.
It's on the side with the power amp that has the KT88 in it. My drummer gets the 6L6GC side.

The song is Move Over by Janice Joplin and I thought my singer did a decent job trying to get it done.
This is a guitar heavy mix that was accomplished by standing in front of my amp, so Big Al deserves kudos for risking permanent hearing damage while capturing it for our enjoyment.

Oh man, that was awesome!  Love that song.  Great playing, great tone!  I have to ask, which channel do you like best, the KT88 or the 6L6?  That KT88 sounds very well balanced.  Lead and chords both great!  Is this "the" band you have been trying to get going?  Sounds good!  Well done young man!

I know you are fishing for recognition so I'll give it to you. YOU WERE RIGHT. That KT88 amp sounds so damn good, I'm hooked. I'm glad I went with the big OT from DL and just let it smoke.
My maintenance program so far looks to be about one 88 per year with weekly practices at 2 hours each.
In SE I'm running idle at 100% and pushing it square so I do feel like I'm getting where you were coming from.
My favorite thing about the rig is the thickness I get from having both amps sounding differently but running at the same time.

I have been sitting down at practice and when it finally came time to stand up and play I felt like I needed a walker.

Thanks Buddy!...on both counts. I missed a couple notes in the lead, but I did think the tone was pretty good and that this was a good representation of what it sounded like to me onstage.

Ya gotta throw the old dog a bone now and then, especially when he manages to let a compliment slip out. I know how hard that is for him and I'm just trying to help him be a better person. We all win.

Thanks a lot! ..."great" is a pretty heavy stretch but I appreciate the kind words.
Anymore when I want to see or hear great I log onto Youtube and I'm amazed at the ridiculous talent out there.

I checked out that Carvin and I'm a lot jealous. I can attest to the idea that there is something to the chambered body but I'm not enough of a cork sniffer to put an adjective to it. I mostly got it for the weight reduction because I'm living with a herniated disc and my Les Paul just ain't helping with that.
Since it's assembly, it has been the only electric that I have been playing and I'm very happy with it. I used a Warmoth standard profile neck and shaped it into a thin asymmetrical  V with no hard finish, just some tung oil.
I also love the forearm and tummy contours and would not be playing a Tele shape without them.

She's a beauty... one of a kind. Doesn't get out much these days though because it's in BAD need of a total refret.

Mahogany body w/ flamed koa top, mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, tung oil on the back. Extremely versatile... can do a pretty good tele impersonation (these Holdsworth pickups actually coil-split very well) and mixing in a little of the piezo helps there too. Can do heavy stuff as well. I'm not a fan of the piezo-only but I think that's due to the mahogany/koa combo. I like blending in the piezo though, especially with the neck-only position.

The no-fret-marker-dots on that black fingerboard and the black-burst edges really make it a stunner to look at. This is one of three guitars that I own (out of 8 or 9 or so) that I will never ever sell.

She IS a beaut!
I went with stainless frets for that exact reason.
Warmoth posted a video a while back about the difference between nickel and stainless frets and even though the premise of the video was that he couldn't really hear a difference you could definitely hear a difference.
On my last two builds I just accepted the difference and worked it into my tone.
I prefer stainless now.

Not that I am aware of. The patch Im using only shows delay and reverb active.
Its kinda cool that youre hearing something special in there.
My signal chain is: TC Electronic G system using a Mesa Triaxis as an insert preamp into 2 single ended power amps that I built.
There might be a phasing effect coming through because I have 2- 1×12 cabs facing different directions.

Finally had a chance to listen at home. Very very nice SG but I wouldn't have admitted anything to that forum harasser especially about that dasturdly big bottle that he continues to pimp like a dealer in our middle cities. Same with playing his "favorite" guitar too. After hearing the song a couple times I now have it carrying firmly in my head for the rest of the day. Thanks for posting, hopefully not the last?

You know, I recently had to train a difficult dog and I was able to draw some parallels with the behavior I see from both of them. If you reward the positive behavior they eventually start to act more positively because all they really want to do is please their daddy.
So when I give Jimbo some credit I'm basically praising his good behavior by saying "Good Boy" and giving him a little treat.
You get it, right?...just positive reinforcement.

Even looking at his signature model Tele reminds me of mine. Especially the series/parallel switching he's got. My middle position is both pickups in series and I love it. The recording is bridge Lil'59 only.

Hey!...You can't pick your head size. My winter helmet (pictured) is a 3XL so I can fit a balaclava under it.
When I was young I was self conscious and was asked if I would sell ad space on the side of my head. Luckily, I grew into it. I can't believe you'd try to hurt my feeling again after all I've done for you.

And jojo, like Ed and I, real men play with big    toobs - and more than one 8” speaker, stool, and music stand (because unlike you, we don’t care if we offend the bass player or sound man/boy and can remember the songs we play).  Unfortunately, even with his one KT88, SG has not reached this status due to his inability to follow his fav movie of all time (Frozen) and “Let it go”. Maybe Frozen 2 will inspire him to new heights. Young boy status might be in his future if he works at it. You, however, have a ways to go to surpass your  girly man tiny tube status.

Wanna know something awful?  last night I was using my using my copy of a Fargen Ole 800, which is a JCM800 basically.  One of my matched Mullard XF2 EL34's got real bright until it no longer was lit.  Now I have toasted 2 of these in 12 years.  This in itself is enough to make a guy wanna go big toob SE.  I used to love having some old cool hard to get tubes, now with the prices of the damn things they are beginning to not sound that much better.


That tone coming SG's has enough raw bottom end, just flat out blistering and I can still hear individual notes in those chords.  That is the make or break for me.  Seems like little tubes are great to play at your nieces tea party, but if you want to shake the pants off the ladies you gotta have a big toob and a bit of snarl and an indecent attitude.


And from 1947, Where rock began!  Move it on over Wiliams, but George Thoroughly Good showed us it really was a rock tune. Ms Pearl herself from 1971.  I just have a hard time with Janice.  I am not really crazy about screams she made thinking it was like Etta James.  Just like Hendrix.  Love their studio work, but that live NOISE.  Reminds me of a coked out David Lee Roth in 1983 when all he could do is run around the stage and scream.


Take a break and take a lesson.  This dude is the ultimate cool!
