6G3 Brownface Deluxe Cabinet Plans

Does anyone have plans for the Fender 6G3 Brownface Deluxe Cabinet?  Thanks.

Now all you do is have to do is figure out the cut dimensions of the top sides and bottom, dovetails...?    Fender used dovetails and pine, they say the pine has magic in the tone...   Most important is the inside dimensions, they have to exact for the chassis to fix properly, to small by an 1/8", chassis won't fit in you beautiful cabinet, too big, the opposite. Of course if you elect not to use blind dovetails figuring the raw dimensions will be much easier. Bottom line, if you use a dovetail jig, make sure to do test pieces to figure out the inside dimensions, no room for error.

I believe Fender used finger joints rather than dovetails. Finger joints are a bit more forgiving on the inside cabinet dimensions. Finger joints can be cut on most dovetail jigs or with purchased or diy table saw jigs. Also - leave room for the tolex that wraps around the cabinet - having a slight gap when done is better than driving the chassis in with a hammer

As Dude suggested, you may want to measure the actual amp chassis that you're going to use. Mojo's cabinet is sized specifically to fit their chassis. It may or may not fit a vintage Fender chassis or that from a different supplier. It does not conform with the measurements on the Vintagesound website.

FWIW, my Mojo 6G3 chassis was a perfect fit in the Mather cabinet I bought. I think I might have told him I was using the Mojo chassis when I ordered the cab. He even predrilled it for the chassis bolts which also lined up perfectly.
My latest project uses a Guitar Cabinets Direct 6G2 cabinet (I believe they make the Mojo cabs, they're shop is also in Burgaw, NC). I used an auction-site chassis and it also fit perfectly. But, the GCD cab was not predrilled for the chassis bolts. It was a little tricky drilling those holes in exactly the right spots. I measured five or six times before drilling.

I've worked with GDC before and they do great work.  I'm working with them now on this build, but I don't know if I can afford it.  I'm trying to help out KC with the specs, so that's why I asked for the dimensions.  Thanks for everyone's help.

I have a 1962 Deluxe if you want me to measure dimensions for comparison.

Below are dimensions I measured from my 6G3 Deluxe.

CAVEAT:  I estimated or slightly rounded-down some, because the brown nubby tolex has appreciable thickness.  For example, the back panels both measured 3/8" thick but I believe the original note that they are 1/4".  I suppose the tolex adds about 1/16" (doubled for the how it is wrapped around the panel, giving 3/8" total).  Radiusing of the edges and the slope of the upper front face also required a bit of guessing to decide what the original overall dimension before radiusing was.

NOTE:  The chassis faceplate measures exactly 19.25" and there's very little gap visible between it and the cabinet sides.  HOWEVER, the tolex was NOT wrapped & glued where it would build up thickness, but was cut (in a way that I never noticed until looking very closely this time).  Blackface amps don't have the tolex cut this way.

Forgot to note:  I did not remove my amp's baffle board to measure how far the battens are set-back on the front.  I did measure 3/8" from the front of the baffle board to the front edge of the cabinet.  So I assumed a 1/2" + 3/8" + "slop for grill cloth" might total to 1".

It might be closer to 7/8" as the cloth doesn't add much thickness; you might want to dry-fit the baffle & battens to see where they land before attaching the battens.

Another note:

There is a slope from the Top of the cabinet (that's 7.5" deep) to the top of the baffle board (9.5" deep), and another slope from the top of the baffle board to the bottom of the cabinet (10.5" deep).  The measurement C (overall height 17.5") and the measurement of the distance from cabinet-bottom to top of baffle board (15") was made square to the bottom of the cabinet, not along the front sloping-face of the cabinet.

You might have assumed that, or not, depending on how you interpreted the drawing.
