Diode rectifier
« on: June 21, 2021, 07:02:44 pm »
Can someone show me a schematic with the appropriate diode configuration for a NON center tapped transformer in a guitar tube amplifier?

I am confused on the (-) side of the rectifier with a safety ground.

It's called a Full Wave Bridge Rectifier. Here's a real world example...

And here's how it works...

A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Thank you. I understand how it works, I never see the bridge ground and the mains ground together.

So I can ground the mains and rectifier both to the chassis?

Yes, both will connect to chassis, but not at the same place. Use a separate dedicated bolt for the mains ground. And ideally, the bridge ground should connect directly to the reservoir cap negative lead.
