speedster 25 deluxe and matchless Clubman
« on: September 01, 2021, 11:29:07 am »
Is the 1999 speedster 25 deluxe made by Soldano? Also, is it a good year to buy? I ask because someone wants to trade me for my 95 matchless Clubman.

Sincerely,

Allen

That's a Sampson era Matchless Clubman. Unobtainium. I have a Sampson '96 DC-30. Never ever would I trade or sell that thing! Rethink this! If you doubt, don't ...

Cheers,
Thomas

Yes.

Probably "all the same" because the Speedster wasn't made very long.  It looked cool, but didn't sell AFAIK.

Are you dying to own a Speedster?  If not, you're acquiring someone else's problem.

People want to trade because they don't have money.  They probably also know they're giving something they don't want for something you have, probably favoring their end of the deal.  If their amp was highly sought after, they would just sell it themselves & have the cash.  Often, no one wants their item, which is why it remains unsold, and then they want to pawn it off to you in a trade.

Beware that Reverb has very-inflated asking prices across the board these days, and Reverb does not show you the actual price something sold for (based on me looking at the Sold listings of my own purchases on Reverb).

That said, the current asking price of a Speedster is about a grand less than the current asking price of a 90's Clubman.  Seem like a good trade to you?

Keep in mind the "Sampson-era" value has little or nothing to do with the quality of the amp. "Phil-era" Matchless amps are usually identical, and if there are differences, they have little or no effect on sound or quality. I bet you could sell your SE Clubman, buy a more recent one, and have $ left over for the 25 Deluxe!
