Power transformer question....

I bought a heath kit TA-16 off CL some time back for the 2 12" speakers. The amp had been destroyed by rodents, the circuit board was black and pitted from urine. All the caps and resistors were corroded beyond use.

I removed the power transformer and tested it and it has a 35vac output and a 110vac aux output.

Could you run the 110vac through a voltage doubler and then step down the 35vac to run the 6.3vac for the heaters?

Short answer... NO. What you think is a 110vac aux output is really another primary winding. For proper operation the two 120V windings should be wired parallel for 120V operation and wired series for 240V operation. Totally inappropriate for tubes.

Maybe I am saying this wrong sir....

The 110v wires were hooked to an outlet socket that would power another piece of equipment..
The socket says AC 200 watts....

Could it be used as an isolation transformer then?

Just trying to figure out if it has any use for me or just trash it...

The power cord of the Heathkit went to the 110v wires and to the outlet socket you mentioned.  The "other piece of equipment" could just plug into the Heathkit rather than needing another socket at the wall outlet.
