Master volume on Matchless Clubman

Please forgive my ignorance but , do the two lugs on the Master Volume pot just tie to each other or do they tie to ground?

They tie to ground. There should be a dot inside that red circle.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

A Little Dot?? (Sorry. This has been a wacko day with ill dog and ice and being declined for a cellphone mainly because our credit is so good the company thinks we must be foolin' with them. And we never expected to have to present a SS card for a dang phone!)

2.2M  resistor not obbligatorially necessary, that is a cathode biased amp, not a fixed bias

Fix or cathode bias, we still can't trust a pot wiper, we need a for-sure grid-leak. A fixed resistor.

PRR - Love the Dot and good luck with your dog - been there so many times. Not sure I could get through Covid without my dogs (oh, and maybe wife too.)
Dr Frankenxtein - please keep us posted on the Clubman. I built a lower power Clubman 6V6 and all octal: 6SL7>6Sh7>6Sl7>2x6V6. I call it Unmatched Fatman. I was inspired to do so by Merlin's suggestion to drive the pentode in V2 position rather than have the pentode in the V1 position. I actually like both arrangements as I am very fond of early Gibson amps and others that use 6SJ7 or 5879 in V1, but the Clubman will crank out the clean power like those others cannot.

Just sat it in the cradle , this amp is heavy. I'm going to follow the drawing.
2.2m resistors on the pot.

You just need to go to Walmart & buy a $70 burner phone.

Much cleaner especially after I snipped the 220k grid leak resistors :icon_biggrin: I knew there was something I was missing. They were hiding under the 25watt 1k resistor. The Brilliant pot that got moved upstream works better too. I'll bet my son is going to like the amp more. It has a little glassier sparkle and it doesn't sound like ___ in between , clean and dirty. I was trying to tame the amp with a 12ay7 in V1 and have a 5751 in V1 now. It will be more versatile now. Thank you so much for the help.
