Pre-drilled turret boards.
« on: February 02, 2022, 02:30:49 pm »
What can you tell me about these type of boards and why someone would want to use them (or not want to use them)?

They are made from crushed rice paper and fish scales and pressed into 3mm wafers  :icon_biggrin:
The lugs would be metric no doubt?

i guess it's just a lazy way of doing it. A universal option instead of the right part for the right job. I assume material is sub standard as well. I think the original marshall's used these?

If your not going to make your own board, then have Doug make it. A lot of guys here have them made by Doug.

He uses a high guilty fiberglass board.

A custom board looks nicer, for sure. So go with Doug's offer if you're on the right side of the pond.but boards like the one pictured are available in Europe from reputable sources and the material is just fr4. I've used them, liked them, and can't see why they would be of subpar quality. I've also seen them available from the far east, but can't speak for those.

Can't really tell just from that pic.

Is that board from AES? If so, it's good quality. The black and red are 3mm thick. Other colors are only 2mm. You have to buy their turrets too.

A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

If you want/plan making boards look into Celeron it is very strong material and cheap.

Quote
Indicated for mechanical applications, the Celeron is a material with great resistance to the impact and to the wear, excellent noise reducer and with low coefficient of friction. Suitable for the construction of elements subject to heavy loads and wear (good resistance to wear even in aggressive conditions, such as dusty environment). It can be lubricated with water, oil or grease. It is resistant to salt water and various atmospheric conditions.

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS

- Excellent mechanical properties

- High resistance to shock and vibration

- Low wear on parts subjected to continuous friction

- Low coefficient of friction

- Good dimensional stability

APPLICATIONS

- Silent sprockets and sprockets

- Bushings of heavy loads

- Support and transport rollers

- Electrical insulation parts

-I vibration filler

- Sliding plates

- Fuse holder
