Help with buying Ram cards

I'm not sure which RAM card to buy. 

I have a Shuttle DD437 XPC computer. It has 2 RAM cards  ~  DDR3L  4GB  1333MHz  DIMM PC3L - 10600, that's printed on the RAM cards that are in there now.

It can take up to 16GB total combined in the 2 RAM card slots/sockets. So I'd like to buy 2 @ 8GB RAM cards to swap in there.

I called Shuttle today, the young man said they are un-bufford RAM cards. (But I'm not sure he really knows.)

Would this be right, they look right, the chips are laid out in the same pattern as my RAM cards;

Or this 1 says 1600Mhz instead of 1333MHz (my RAM card) and 12800 instead of 10600 (my RAM card). I don't know what those 2 numbers are for (MHz is speed?) , if the mother board can handle and if the mother board can handle them, they would be better? Same price.

If it is not clear, if it has to work, I too would buy CRUCIAL RAM from their store.

1333mhz is the speed of the RAM. Those two SO-DIMM’s at Newegg should perform wonderfully.

The mentioned memory should work fine.  But, Shuttle does give you "supported memory" on its website.  If you feel at all concerned about it, use their recommendation.

I'd be careful about how much you spend on memory for this computer.   Looks like you can get a new laptop for about $600 -- and you could easily spend $100 on new memory for your old machine.

I just bought the Ram sticks Blueboozer posted the link for at Newegg. There $50 for 16GB total, not bad at all. (Thank you Blueboozer!  )

I spent ~3 hours last night doing searches and reading on RAM.

And the sticks Blueboozer posted are the correct low voltage/dual voltage chips. Which seems to be more important than the speed.

I read last night that as long as you stay with the RAM series it's designed for/came with, mine's DDR3 series, not 4 or 2, you can use a faster RAM. The motherboard will just run it at what speed it can support.

I have a free program called Speccy that tells you what's in your computer and how it's running. Last night I clicked on the RAM usage % graph and it was using ~45% of the RAM, I opened a 2nd screen, it jumped to 65% usage and was slowly climbing.     

I'll be looking to get a new desk top, but I'll still use this computer as long as I can after I get the 2nd computer. We have a raised ranch home, so 1 in the family room and the other in my music/work shop room downstairs.

My eye's are going with age and as I enlarge whats on the screen, it also pushes more and more off the screen. 

So yesterday I also bought from Newegg, a 32" monitor. I won't have to enlarge everything and push it off the screen anymore, and.......  It will be great for doing cad drawings for new builds. 

I've gotten 15 years out of this Dell screen so far, so I got my money's worth. I really can't take this 21.5 screen anymore. A 27" would have helped but I went for the 32".

That's just Windows (any complex O/S). It takes all it can get. It generally takes rejection calmly. I have 8GB in the box and 4+GB in use. Yes, it started much lower yesterday and it climbs, rarely dropping when I close a piggish window. About 2 years back I "had" to bump from 4GB to 8GB.

I think an ad-blocker helps a lot. Some of those ad-scripts are infinite sinks for resources.

Have you seen a eye-doc?? Even a storefront spectacle seller, any licensed eye practitioner can screen you.

The #1 most popular problem is loss of near-focus. They can pretty-near estimate your age by the difference between far-focus and near-focus. This is simple reading glasses. (For PC at arms'-length, 1.5X to 2.0X will focus 24 inches like it was infinity.)

The #2 is often cataracts. Dark, blurry, monochrome. They don't get better. The operation is trivial. (You hope to have insurance, because the rack-rate is high; if that is a problem they will talk.)

Glaucoma, retinal scars and age, and other things are also common as we age.

Cataracts, glaucoma, etc are far outside the competence of the mall eyeglass pusher BUT they all have training and ethics boards so they can steer you to the right expert as needed. My specs-guy took one look and "knew" I had cataracts (not his job!), but checked thoroughly for other conditions, before calling the cataract-guy across town for a referral. After I healed, I was sent back to the specs-guy (the replacement lens is never spot-on) for an Rx. They got me close: I am legal bare-eye but I read better with a spot of astig on top of a near-focus.

Might as well build or buy a desk-top that will be able to run Win 11. I have to up grade my main desktop and that requires a new motherboard processor and ram to be able to run Win 11. I'll be going with AMD. Of course on could also run Ubuntu or similar OS.

I've been at 4GB for 15 years now.    It does have a SSD. Just going to 8GB. For $50 I'll see how much it helps.

Yes, I have add blocker plus, I like it a lot. Seems to work very well.

Up until the covid I would go pretty much every year, I wear contacts for distance. I need to go now since it's died down here and I'm vaxed. I get tested for glaucoma every time when I'm there. No cataracs, just getting old.

I have several pairs of cheaters, different magnification, all over the house, in the car, .....     But if I have my contacts in I need 1 X and if I don't have them in I need a different X. Besides there a pain, have to clean them all the time, put them on, take them off, bah.

Ok, got the new 32" 4K screen hooked up and adjusted color and print, looks great to me. Clearer and much easier for me to read, very happy with it. Measures almost 28" across, it will be much easier to layout eyelet/turret boards and chassis with cad.

So, with the old total of 8 Ram, 1 screen open, ~45% usage, 2 screens open, it was ~65% usage of Ram memory.

Now with the new Ram sticks, total 16 Ram, 1 screen -20%, 2 screens - 25%, 3 screens - 33%, usage of Ram memory.

Everything works much faster, screens, web sites, on line guitar store web pictures, my saved pictures, all open, I'd say at the very least 50% faster, maybe/probably more like 75% faster? Very much improved! For ~$50, very happy with it.

I had great satisfaction fitting an older PC with an SSD. Some places where Windows just gags reading-in a large directory from spinning rust now snap. SSD prices have come way down. But cloning a drive so it works and no information is lost is non-trivial, especially on older O/Ses not supported by newer cloning tools. (Clonezilla may be my next toy.)

Thankfully mine came with a SSH.

A friend gave me this computer. He's the head computer man at a large digital Juke box company. They bought boxes of the 1 he gave me. He came over and set it all up for me. His young daughter was learning piano, so in return I gave him an old Korg weighted keys digital piano for her. It sounded real good to me. It ~7 or 8 years old?

So everybody was happy.
