This first 1/4 held together and not reinforced yet. the white paper in previous post is not a tear it was creased. I am not sure what i am going to use for reinforcement on the surround.

I have used Aleenes Tacky Glue (craft store) for speaker repair. It is really great stuff.
Can dap the glue between the cracks and it will hold the two cracks together with a flexible bond
If there is missing cone material have used tea bag material wetted with diluted Tacky Glue.
Have used diluted tacky glue for surround. Have read the rubber cement is too thick and will change the character of the speaker.

Here are a few speaker repair cases

I don't want to discourage you, because I want to see how this comes out.
But if it does no work well... I have a couple of reconed P12Qs and they sound great.
And I have a couple of Jensens that I want to try and recone myself. There are a couple of excellent videos on the process on YouTube. Clearly you have the patience to do it. Ted Weber sell reconing parts, and some others sell kits as you likely know.
I have used model fabric airplane dope and tissue paper to repair torn cones. But I understand that the old style dope is no longer available. My repair attempts on surrounds and voice coils need to be classified as just that: attempts. :icon_biggrin:

I am hopeful but not convinced, its just the surround (the cone looks fine) but it is 70 years old and I didn't test the voice coil . I put up a poll up top of this post and I am curious to see the consensus FWIW

I would proceed with the steps in the order of your poll.
After each step, test the speaker sound.
If it sounds right, stop. otherwise proceed to next step.
I had one jensen professionally reconed in my silvertone 1484, excellent

My hopes are still high. 24hrs to dry and then test. looks very good at this point. I have not even put a battery to it, so no expectations but high hopes.

Oh boy ...

There is another thread here about 15" speakers.  I commented about a similar vintage Jensen P15Q-ish speaker that I had re-coned.  It sounds great, but it's not very efficient and kind of quiet.  I wonder at this point if I should have had it re-magnetized.  Granted, the magnet is relatively small anyway, but I imagine it may have lost some of its strength since the 1950's.

"Oh boy"

Things that make you go hmmmmm and wonder. It's not looking good for the speaker but I have not given up yet. I've had the speakers for my GA5's reconed with good results 8" alnico's from 59 and 60 .

I had a pair of JBL 2035HPL, 15" 400w
the was is currently serving time as a lake-dragger for metal, anchor, and sea anchor of drift fishin,
the were was working then it self destructed, it's currently in use as small metal object catcher in the electronics shop.

You could probably pick up a table saw with that thing.

Ed, It was a short-lived success, I played it for about 10 minutes through a Kalamazoo model 2, sounded great, but it just made a slight encore and was gone. I talked to bill on the phone, He said that it's pretty much impossible to do the repair that I did and save the speaker just to much stacked against it! I am not going to actually go there ,just the speaker via UPS.

Bummer... Worth the try though. I would have done the same.

Yeah  Bummer but I'm glad I tried . I have a 1952 P12N in there now and it sounds great other than a weird decay sound in the lower register. Low e string, the buzz weakens and disappears around A sharp(Ebay purchase, claimed No Issues and not cheap). All this is with volume around 1/2 below that it's hardly noticeable. But will probably need a recone. Next venture is going to be the GA50-T It is missing the 8"PM and I haven't checked the 12"PM yet (both Alnico Jensen's...) I am going to try to find
a 1950 8" but may use a different one until I do ......I still have to hook up the tremolo on the les paul but this amp is "Superlative in tone"
