Nail Polish for Lifted/Removed Trace?
« on: March 17, 2023, 08:47:01 am »
I removed(purposely) a trace on a circuit board.

Should I paint the exposed board with nail polish?
Should I just leave it?

I'm thinking if I don't seal it, the board could absorb moisture and become conductive.
But is nail polish ok to use?

Is there something I should use instead?

Thank you

By far the most common material used in circuit boards is glass reinforced epoxy laminate.   I have not seen this material absorb water under "normal" working conditions.

So, I'd let it be . . .

Is the rest of the board painted? If not, then what is the difference?

I would never worry about the binders used with fiberglass. Paper-base "can" absorb moisture but millions of pocket radios got along without special treatment. They die of floods or damp sheds.
