As to achieve a better readability of the Layout I draw using Visio I would like to have resistor with Color Bands & Number Values

but not at the same time for better readability

Is there a trik to have resistors on the shape file that are present .... where ... in two layers ? One layer with Color Bands the other Layer with Number Values ?

So, swapping layer, I can see Number Values or Color Bands

I'm not practical with Layers use and so I need help

if a component shape on two layers isn't possible, how can I solve this thing ?

Do you have any idea about ?

Many Thanks

Franco

You already answered your own question.  Except you need 3 layers, not 2.

One layer is the actual components, with or without wiring.

Next layer is just the color bands.

Final layer is just the numbers for component values.

You may add additional layers as you choose:  perhaps one layer for wiring, another layer for dimension markings, another layer for voltages and technical information?

I think this is what you want. Way more trouble than it's worth. Why do you want this???
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Thanks HotBluePlates & Steve

Yes, something like HBP say, I must study how to do association of draw parts with a specific layer

What is in the file posted by Steve is what I want to obtain

which is the way followed to arrive to that result ?

to make easier the revision of the Layout, as we talk about some time ago, sometime there are color misundestand and also happen that someone that is revising the layout do that printing it and comparing with a printed schematic, if there isn't a color print of the layout things become less easyer to be done

Many Thanks

Assigning a component to a layer is easy. Just select the component(s). Click on Layers...assign to layer...select a layer from the list or create a new layer using a meaningful name.

I understand the confusion with color bands. Different monitors, printers, printer ink, eye sight, etc., can all alter the intended color of the bands. (As a side note, my color bands look slightly different to me since my cataract surgery.) For these reasons I quit using the color band resistors and just started writing the value on the resistor. I highly recommend you do likewise to avoid confusion with others.

But if you insist...  :icon_biggrin:

1. Make your layout using color-coded resistors. Select all resistors and assign to a new layer using a meaningful name.

2. Now place a generic resistor shape direct over a color-coded resistor and replace the ??? with the actual value of the resistor. Repeat for all the remaining resistors.

3. Select all the new resistors and assign to a new layer with a different meaningful name.

4. Now click Layers...Layer properties... and select which resistor layer you wish to view and/or print.

That's all. Sounds simple but I promise, it is tedious. That's why I only used a drawing with 10 resistors as an example. I just don't see any value in doing this. Just use the generic resistors to avoid any confusion.

Thanks Steve

Explanations are very clear, it is mainly a work of patience

Please try to follow me and say if this is feasible

1) Load a Shape library with only resistors

2) Start a new draw

3) Putt on the new draw all the resistors

4) select all the resistors and assign as Layer name Color Band Resistors

5) Save all the resistors as new Masters on a Shape library

6) Load newly to an empty draw all the resistors

7) Modify all resistors eliminating color bands and adding Values Numbers

8) Select all the resistors and assign as Layer name Values Numbers Resistors

9)
Save all the resistors as new Masters on a Shape library

When I draw a layout use both types, first one and then the other, swapping the Layer

Is this feasible ?

May be the same library can contain both Band Colors Resistors and Value Numbers Resistors ?

I don't know. I suggest you do all that work and tell me if it's feasible.

And I'm still wondering, "WHY?"

I'll give a try as soon as I have a bit of time

may be I start with a low number of resistors as to see what happens

Ciao
