Flip and Reverse visio image
« on: September 09, 2023, 09:16:25 am »
Hi guys.   I am going to gut a chinese made Vox AC15C1 and want to install a Hoffman Stout w/Reverb.  Problem is the layout is flipped and reverse from what is going to be needed.
The PT is on the right, the tubes are on the bottom and the pots are on the top, with the preamp to the left.
I have manually done this two times, once installing a Hoffman 5F6A into a Baldwin Organ Chassis, and once building a Hoffman Deluxe reverb into a head chassis. It's very painstaking.

Does anyone here have the talent/skills/tools to be able to flip and reverse the Hoffman Stout Reverb layout?

I have needed to do this a few times depending on whether I was working from the top of the chassis (Fender tray-style) or from underneath the chassis (Ampeg/Marshall)

Hope this helps

> flip and reverse

Isn't that "rotate"? Print and turn? I suppose not.

Oooh, that could be dangerous.  It looks like the pinouts on the tubes sockets and pots are on the wrong legs.  Might be more confusing than just using your noodle with the layout as a guideline.

Thanks you guys.. much appreciated..   I will probably resort to using the noodle.  It surely takes time and patience..    :icon_biggrin:

Looks but aren't

I can cut/paste the image in Photoshop so the text and pins aren't flipped. I'll upload a version in a while.

Yeah, it definitely could be misread.

I used the flipped versions exclusively for making a reverse board, not for wiring.

Actually   no it isn't   the power supply end of board needs to be to the right.. the tube sockets  need to be reversed. The pots are in the correct order the sockets are not.
The input jack needs to be on the left.

When I say "flipped" I mean in the vertical axis   not horizontally.  That way the ps end is on the right,  the pots and tube sockets are reversed vertically.

I was actually wrong saying reversed in my OP. Flipped on the vertical axis would be great.

The problem is that if I flip each socket (while keeping them in the same order) then the wiring to the board will get crisscrossed. Hoffman laid out the components to line up with the socket pins. Notice that his wires do not cross except for pins 1 and 8 of V4. And, that could be eliminated by connecting pin 3 to the board instead of pin 8.

To be honest, I think it might just be easier for you to draw up a new layout and arrange the components on the board to line up with the socket pins.

ah yes    I see  I will look at flpping the sockets  and the wiring to them     as well the pots have to be done too.. lest they turn backwards

heck might be easier to flip the chassis   or get another chassis made to fit the cab..
