Heyboer TP40D

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I'm building an amp for myself and am excited about all that I am learning along the way (this is my first build). I'd really like to get my hands on a Hayboer TP40D power transformer, but for the life of me I cannot find a new one, cannot find a used one, and cannot get a response from Heyboer.

I'm going with the 5E3P Proluxe with suggestions from Rob Robinette's webpage. I want the additional power of the Proluxe because I'm gearing the build towards my baritone guitar. I want tighter bass response and a larger speaker (Celestion Cream). The TP40D seems to possess all of the ideal characteristics, but being as green as I am, perhaps I'm not privvy to a suitable alternative. Could use some guidance. Thank you,

It's always helpful to post a schematic when asking about an amp build, repair, or mod.

And what is a Hayboer TP40D PT? Can you post a spec sheet for it?

The Heyboer TP40D was a Heyboer manufactured uprade PT for a Deluxe Reverb by David Allen

Attached is the schematic for the TP40D.

One key feature is the 50v bias tap which is necessary for. They were used in Allen amps and I believe Allen sold them at one point as well, although that is no longer the case according to their website.

Rob Robinette's page dedicated to his Proluxe build shows a schematic for the PTF41316 he used (Hammond is the maker I believe). I'll attach that as well.

The amp is a weber design and is Fender 5E3 tweed Deluxe preamp and the Fender 5E5-A Pro power amp

Welcome Bogan. Do you have a TP40D power transformer already? What chassis are you considering using?

I do not have a TP40D currently and I'm planning on using a 5E3 chassis.

The owner of Allen Amps sold the company. 

I don't they sell transformers any more, you'll have to look that up. Probably need to use a different PT?

And you should look up if Weber still sells a kit.

You don't have to have a bias tap on the PT, it's nice, but not a deal killer if it doesn't have one.

It's basically a quad input 5E3 with a beefier 6L6 output section.  It fits your requirements.

I did notice that the 5E5 kit would be very similar, but I'd like to keep my first build on the smaller side and make it a combo. Later I'd like to build some heads that I can try out with different cab/speaker arrangements. I moved away from kits because lists of parts/materials are made readily available along with an incredible amount of literature much of which is free online. At the end of the day I'd rather understand what I'm doing and why so the end result is what I want rather than following someone else's design to a T at the expense of comprehension and learning opportunities.

I landed on both a PT and OT that I think are going to serve my purposes and provide flexibility should I choose to make additional modifications down the line, but I'd certainly appreciate any feedback the community here has in case I've missed something. Schematics for both are attached.

These are not kits per se -- although most of the electronic components are available in Doug's store, you will have to source some of the components yourself. This is a great place to jump in if you have more than a (total) beginner's knowledgebase.

The really good thing about these designs is that they are well thought out, we know them well, you can mod them to your heart's content -- and -- play fantastic.

When you're starting from scratch, BEGIN with your schematic, THEN spec your iron.

Most assuredly NO.   Doug Hoffman ("EL34") owns this website and the associated store (Hoffmanamps.com). He's got real chops as an amp guy going way back.

Uncle Doug is a retired math teacher from El Paso, who loves hot rods and does a good job teaching basic tube amp theory.   

They couldn't be more different.    Doug H can spell it out better if need be.
