what I've found both as a Artist and a Tech/builder;

You will NEVER "create" what the original customer "expects".  That's the main reason I never did commissioned paintings.  The "payer" has some "vision" they try n convey, but your work never quite gets to that original vison.

Amps are much the same, a guitarist has this "sound" that they got from a specific amp they want "replicated".  You will never be able to replicate the "sound".  doesn't matter if you point out every component is "the same" as the original, it will always "fall short"

The best you can hope for is to work directly with the "payer" in a collaborative way that each party will walk away satisfied with the results.

An old friend ask me to help him locate someone to build him a valco 510-11 chassis ready to put in cab ...

"Valco 510-11" = "Supro Spectator"

It's close to being a tweed 5B2 Princeton, but the cab has a different form-factor.  You could build one, but it's probably cheaper to buy the real thing.  I'm not sure anyone has the right chassis as an in-stock item, especially if the cab in question matches the original cabs.

Supro Spectator - $1000 (but it has sat unsold for 3 years; I bet they would take a lower offer)

Supro Spectator - $800 (but $700 is closer to the right-price, given cosmetic issues & will likely need new coupling caps)

I bought one a few years back.  I don't recall, but I think the price was more like $500-550.  As I said, they're typically available close to or less than the cost of building a replica.

I build a Spectator into a 5F1 Tweed Champ chassis. Same circuit but I use a dual concentric pot for the Vol and Tone control. Fits into any 5F1 cabinet. I’ve also built more conventional Spectators.

I make my own chassis for more conventional builds.
