RIP Ed Chambley
« on: November 21, 2024, 02:58:18 pm »
Hello everyone and especially many of the OG posters. This thread can be moved later but for the sake of notifying and reaching the most eyes I have sad news.

Ed Chambley has passed away a couple of days ago. Ed got sepsis a few months ago and it almost took him out. He was not fully recovered until a recent brain aneurysm then fell into a coma.

For those interested there is a celebration of life announcement:

Regards,
Joe

Noooooooo!

Had a lot of fun with Ed when he was hangin' around here. Smart guy too. I talked with him on the phone a couple times, he had a strong southern drawl.

Oh my, well Ed knew Jesus and he's made it home safe now.

RIP my friend with the Father and the Son.

I'm saddened to hear this. Ed was quite a likable character. Ed and Leigh have been to my house twice. I'm glad to have known him. And I'm proud he was a friend of mine. Take it easy my friend. I'll see you again.

Ed did help me with my amps, nice guy,

Coupling caps with the outer foil orientation installed backwards will not cause the hum you are getting.  I promise :icon_biggrin:

Now if you had a small amount of floor noise and had use all MF resistors and wanted to get dead quiet maybe then it would be something to try.  The problem is stuffing 10 pounds of manure into a 5 pound bag.  Something is bound to stink.

UKI, keep on going man.

RIP Ed

It's amazing on these forums how a guy you never met in person can effect your life journey.
You can tell when a guy is answering you with a smile. You just can. Ed always seemed like one of those guys.
Maybe God called him home because He needs a kick-ass tube amp!  :think1: :w2:
Ed, you'll be sorely missed!

I don't know if the guys in charge here would be interested in this but, on another forum I'm involved with
we created a special section for our lost members. We called it "Gone But Not Forgotten" Just a pic or two,
their obituary and maybe a funny story or two. A little page to reflect on a lost friend when you're feeling a bit down.
Just a thought.

Thanks for sharing the news.  I unfortunately didn't get to interact with him personally here, but his name comes up often in older threads that I've been researching.  I'm grateful for him, and his contributions to the knowledge-pool here.

That is sad news. I am so glad that his celebration of life will include a jam session. That shows that his friends and family knew him well and respected his life choices. May we all be so blessed.

Rest in Peace, Ed.

I just read through  a bunch of his forum posts from over the years.  What a cool guy and presence on the forum.

I don't post much, but very sad to hear this news.  This forum will be just a wee bit dimmer without Ed here.  He will be missed.

Ed had a great big heart, a heavy southern drawl, big tales of music adventures and very passionately opinionated experiences on his equipment he built, used, repaired, and owned. His music friends always knew they could get honest detailed and accurate trustworthy information and feedback which he pulled no punches in doing so. But mostly, his big personality really came through in his friendly and funny manner. It was a pleasure and honor knowing you buddy. And many thanks for all your time you gave and spent here in helping me and others unselfishly which most felt that he'd give the shirt off his back if it could help. Our phone conversations were never short, and he loved to talk smack and tease with the best of them. I'm thankful to have known Ed.

Ed loved animals but especially dogs and used to try to help dogs find permanent homes in his local area from the Appalachian rescue. In commenting on one only a little over a year ago he said, "That pup Roxy is the most expressive 13-year-old dog I have ever seen. Full of life, full of energy and I hope that my life runs the same way. I don't really care how it ends I just hope that I have the energy of this pup when I'm in the older classification of the human race."

Sorry to hear this news about Ed but I'm glad to read above that he knew Jesus. That means we will meet face to facein the land of endless bliss and have a Jam with no time clock on it. We had some good thread discussion in the past like"Cheap Guitars the play and sound good" for one. Sure enjoyed the peaceable friendly communications we had on this Earth!
On the right track now<><
