I was going over the schematic and matching items to the BOM. The instruction page and the schematic call for a 180 ohm resistor to be used for the LED light wire….R34.

R34 on the BOM is a 100 ohm resistor and it says that it’s for the LED.

Should I use the 100 ohm or should I order a 180 ohm?

I think it's a typo. I'd go with the 180 ohm R.

The larger value gives a little more current protection than the 100 R.

Gotcha. The resistor that was included by Doug appears to be 100 ohm. I’ll double check all of them again though.

What do you mean included?

Did you buy a kit with all the parts from Doug?

I never read all the above thread, but I completed one of these with Hoffman board kit a few years ago and didn't like the resulting Pro Jr. I turned it into a 5F10 Harvard in the end. I suggest you convert it to cathode bias. I suspect Fender has finally done it to the Blues Jr. and Pro Jr.

Correct. It was the kit from Doug.

I’ll keep that in mind. I’ll see how I like it when it’s completed and go from there.

You asked me about the 180 ohm R that's in the schematic and layout drawing, the 100 ohm R in the BOM and that you got a 100 ohm R with the kit from Doug.

I told you that it must have been a typo and just go ahead and use a 180 ohm R. It will give a little more current protection for the LED.

So why are you yelling at Doug over a simple 1 resistor typo? I gave you an answer but you sent Doug 2 PM's, which I saw. I spoke with Doug about this and he told me I answered you correctly, both it being a typo and better to use the 180 ohm. It really isn't a big deal, just use a 180 ohm R. In your words "there is no reason to treat people this way man."

I appreciate the information from you.

I wanted to check with Doug and confirm because he is the guy who wrote it and I got it from.

I’m moving on from my issue with Doug and don’t want to address that publicly. Letting things go and getting on. This forum operates a little differently than what I’m used to, which I’m good with. Now I know more about that.

Back to what I came here for…..to learn more. What you said about the 180 giving more current protection over the 100 is sending me down another path of discovery. Another concept to learn, why use value A over value B.

Thanks again for the info.

No, no, no, you did more than just 'check' with Doug.

You were rude to him over a 1 resistor value typo. Sure you don't want to address this in the forum. Now you want to 'move on' after accusing Doug of being rude when you are the one who's being rude.   :think1:

I'm a moderator, I'm 1 of his sets of eyes and mouth pieces here. You didn't need to check with him, what I told you was correct. That's part of what the forums for. And If I would have got it wrong, 1 of the other guys would have spoke up.

That's a good question. Do a search for LED current limit resistor.

I simply told him to post his questions here and he got rude
Then I told him the next step was he would be banned

This forum is here for people to ask questions and get help from the 10K + members
It's not here for the 10K + members to all ask me questions

I run a business all day long and am very busy

Thanks Willabe for the input
