We have a mostly white squirrel. It gets whiter in the winter, less white in the warm months.

They vary in color
There's always some darker patches on them somewhere
I have 5 white ones that hang out here

during the winter I bought a bag of raw nuts n fed the ground squirrels as they woke up every now n again, had about 30 nuts left, planted them in my garden, nothing yet but lot's of things are just breaking ground, we'll  see.

the black squirrels dominate here, maybe we each trap some of each and release them 1/2 way between MI n NC

White Squirrels in Brevard, NC are considered rare.

That's BS, They are 1000's of white squirrels here
They are not albino's, they are just whitish gray squirrels

They have black squirrels in MI
Wonder what a combo of black and white would come up with?

I think the actually have albino white squirrels in Olney, MO?

I just checked the garden, 5 peanut plants are up and looking good, we'll see after the next 10 days of 50 degree days and 40 degree nights!

8 of my peanut plants are up n doing well, they don't seem to mind the 55/45 temps over the last couple days.

I should plant a few of the raw peanuts in the Helene bare area.
Did you leave them in the shells?
I imagine so

There may already some coming up here
I have seen the squirrels and crows burying them
It was a big surprise when I saw the crows doing that

I cracked the shell pretty good, spaced them about the same as potato plants ~~16" apart.
the last one that popped up 2 days ago still had the shell covering the leaves, plucked it off this morning.


all mine went to the ground squirrels n chipmunks so if the buried them, they probably won't make it to the surface!
the regular squirrels snooze pretty good over the winter, so they miss out, but I have 6-8 black walnut trees I've been trimming and tending as "future firewood", 2 are now producing nuts that get pretty much cleaned up by the squirrels.
