Hoffman PR Layout - Build
« on: July 13, 2025, 11:26:55 am »
Hello form TN,

This is yet another Hoffman PR Layout/Build.  Now I know all you pros etc been there done that but this is for the new guys contemplating building one of these amps.  I would like to encourage you to pull the trigger and go for it.  Below is one I am just finishing up and I really do love these amps.  One of the few I keep in my personal collection for sure.  I do things a little different as I am sure many of you do the same.

Cheers

Folks can learn a lot by seeing how you executed the build & incorporated some of the added features!

Way to go!  Very nice build!

Awe man, thank you :)

I try and separate the verb and tremelo wiring as it seems to cause noise issues.  I also do a ground buss for the signaling side of the house and terminate under the inputs or as close as I can get it.  The knob in the back is a midrange which is awful nice on these amps.  I connected that with shielded cable of course.  Another thing I like to do on these builds is drill the board and run the wiring through and lay it flat on the chassis.  Again, an attempt to make it as quiet as possible (so far so good).

Cheers!

Very meticulous build - looks great! My next project is going to be PR with single tube reverb and no tremolo - hope it turns out at least half as good as yours.

Guides on your quest for tone.
Oh yeah, and I'm usually just kidding so don't take me too seriously.
