tone control on revibe unit

Hi all. Its been a while since my last post. At any rate. I notice the tone control on my revibe is not very noticeable when used. Once you crank the dwell and mix up I can tell its working. At about 6 oclock on mix/ dwell I cant tell much of a difference from 1 to 10 on the tone. Is this normal.

I suppose your unit is the Fender 6G15 stand alone reverb unit?

It seems that the more you mix to the bypassing side (lower part of the circuit)
the less meaningful is the tone pot. One way correct that is to place the tone pot after
the mixer pot.

Leevi, thanks for the reply. My reverb or in the case revibe is the 6g15/5g13 circuit. The unit is dead quite (Tore T) mod, so no complaints there. I wondered if I had something wrong or this is normal for this circuit. I guess I need to compare it next to a straight 6g15 to known for certain.

If some out there has built the reveibe what is your experience with this unit.

What you're describing is normal.

The Tone control is not for the overall signal, just for the tone of the reverb. Turn it up, you get brighter reverb, but your dry signal remains unchanged.

Brighter reverb sits more forward and is more noticeable. Dark reverb blends into the background and you might have to turn the mix up high to notice it (especially with a low dwell setting). And of course, if you set the dwell low, the mix knob can be turned up much higher for the same perceived amount of reverb.

It's all about being able to adjust each parameter of the reverb sound. With blackface amps, the only control you have is equivalent to the mix knob.

HBP, you have described to a T what I am experiencing with my revibe. I am feeling a little better now that I know this is normal. Now I have no excuse to finish the GA-5 I stated so long ago.
