Standard spacing on eyelets/turrets?
« on: July 16, 2011, 08:50:13 am »
Is 3/8" on center enough for 1/8" eyelets?

         Thanks,     Brad     :think1:

I think it should be. If memory serves, Doug uses 9mm (long story) which is a skosh more than 5/8". Should work for most components except the largest PS caps. Check spacing by laying 'em out on a strip of cardboard and measuring. If it is a popular amp Doug may nave a board already drilled. Have Fun!

OOPS! I meant 5/16"  :embarrassed:

This problem calls for a bigger hammer!

A little off topic,

I wished Doug sold a universal board, something that looks like his drilling template. add lugs where you want em!

My mind is aglow with whirling, transient nodes of thought careening through a cosmic vapor of invention (H. Lamarr)

Eyelets would be completely different than lugs because they have a very wide flange.

My board spacings for lugs are
.296875" inch horizontal column spacing (11/64ths)
.19685" vertical spacing between rows.

Really long story somewhere on this forum why I use those spacings

You talking about a generic board with tons of holes everywhere like the drilling template?

If so, would be really expensive because I charge by how long the CNC machine takes to drill all the holes on the pre drilled boards.
I charge $1.00 a minute for CNC time + how many inches long the boards are (raw board material pricing = .62 per linear inch).

I can only stack and drill two boards at a time because the 3/32 carbide CNC drill bits have a very short business end.
They are not really long like a regular drill bit.

If I could stack up 5 boards at a time, it would be much cheaper, but the CNC machine will smoke regular jobber drill bits.
Have to use very high quality carbide bits.
