Is the 6N6P (6Н6П), as some vendor says, really an (electrically) equivalent tube of the ECC99 ...

The Russian data sheet for the 6N6P claims a little more Gm, a little less rp for the same operating point as the JJ ECC99.

The 6N6P heater uses only pins 4 & 5; pin 9 is an internal shield. The data sheet says 6.3v heater only.

The JJ ECC99 uses pin 9 as a center-tap for the heater, and can accept 6.3v (2 heater sections in parallel) or 12.6v (2 heater sections in series).

So similar, but different. I haven't personally tried either tube.

Thanks HotBluePlates

So, if the filament voltage is the major difference, in a small amp with filament circuit properly adapted I think the 6N6P can be used as power tube in place of ECC99

(a friend told me that there may be a chance to have some it at a good price, I'll try to take it)

Thanks again

for a mini-amp perhaps... :icon_biggrin:

There is a recent post about a small amp that uses ECC99

Hi again Kagliostro, when I designed that amp the 6N6P was in my mind and should work fine - the reason I spec the ECC99 is the heater arrangement mentioned above and simplicity in set up that it allows (I use 12v6 heaters in most of my builds).
