A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

I believe there are 2 sizes fender used.  Check with Steve at http://www.apexjr.com/
He used to have both.

I guess you know which size you need, but the part number is for the larger ones used in the 70's from what I read.  I have seen them in old radios, but not sure if it is 2N

$32 for a simple power connector?  Ouch!

Mouser doesn't have any of this round type, but for only $1 or so per connector I might consider squaring that hole to make one of these fit.   :dontknow:

Yeah, 32 bucks seems a little on the steep side.

I have some two-pronged polarized outlets like that. Mine require a 1-5/32" diameter mounting hole 1-1/8" if mounting from the back). What size hole do you need?

Steve,

I don't have the hole yet as this is for a PR build.  I have a 2 prong like you now but my guy wants a 3 prong.  He might have to cough up that 32 bucks if it really is that important.  I like those IECs too but I do not have a square punch.

I don't think a square hole would be a challenge for you. Drill, nibbler tool, files. Takes longer, but you feel so satisfied when it's done!   :icon_biggrin:

I could do it I just like things to be perfect, personality flaw.  If I do enough of these the 100 bucks for a Greenlee Radio Chassis Punch might be ok.

I do square holes in chassis with 4 holes drilled in the corners then connect them using a dremel tool with their metal cutting disk, comes out darn near perfect to perfect.  :icon_biggrin:

Hubbell makes some nice ones. They require a 1-1/2" hole. That may not fit a Fender repro chassis. Here's one on eBay...

Mike, with your level of workmanship I am sure you could make a perfect square hole for the cheaper plug.

Willabe's four drill hole and dremel method is within your skill level.   :worthy1:

It might not look so nice if I did it, but practice makes perfect.   :l2:

I know a socket in the back is traditional. My experience is that you plug a cord in a socket some feet off the floor, some fool (me) trips over the cord and knocks the amp down. (More fun if reverb is turned up.)

For a combo, I have put a 4-way plain two-duplex j-box in the bottom of the speaker space. Box, cover, and 10-pack of receptacles (do not get tamper-proof!!) is under $13 at the home store; may be $18 if you blow for two Commercial-grade (tougher) receptacles. Get dark outlets, paint the cover black, it isn't obvious, but very easy to use, and can support the whole band.

http://www.garvinindustries.com/electrical-covers-device-rings/4-square-covers-device-rings/industrial-surface-covers/g1939

Side note: that photo shows the receptacles mounted only by the center screw. That's how we did it for decades. But note the 4 empty holes. These covers now come with (should) 4 screws and nuts so you can hang the receptacles by their main ears 2-point. More solid, and better grounding. In either case you have to bust-off the Mickey-Mouse ears on standard receptacles to get them into that type cover.

Yeah, I still have mine too.  :icon_biggrin:

I still use it to adjust bridge saddles. I think I paid ~$250(?) for it back in the late '70's? Was a lot of $$ back then.

All the other guys I was playing with tuned up with it, nice to have everybody in tune.

If you got to play in tune thru the 70's & 80's, that was well worth the cost of the strobotuner©.
