PR build wiring question

Is the reverb input jack tip supposed to have continuity with ground after everything is wired up, from other end of transformer? After looking at layout diagram im thinking yes, but want to make sure .

Board is all wired up, time for components AFTER double checking every thing....man I wish I was a better solderer

When you say "continuity" do you mean very low ohms, 1-2-5 ohms or *any* amount of ohms not well into the megohms?


Sure, you should read some smallish amount of ohms across ONE SINGLE winding of a given transformer. A 120 VAC input to a power transformer can have a shockingly low DC resistance reading....1-2-3 ohms, easily. A high-current 6.3 volt winding can look pretty much like a short circuit as can a 5v rectifier filament winding.


This is provided you mean END of the transformer meaning END of the transformer WINDING versus SIDE of the transformer eg; input versus output, where there should be no continuity.


Is your soldering iron a WCC-100? I have one of those. Let's just say I use the stand/base and the iron is hanging off to the side unused. It's a piece of garbage, not as good as a Radio Shack $5.99 25 watt iron you plug into an AC outlet.

is that grid leak resistor on the return jack red-red-black-orange? can't tell if the 4th band is orange or yellow. it should be yellow for a 220K.

That's a mistake. White wire should connect to the two middle jacks.

thanks, ill fix that, I also realized this morning that I forgot the bias tap wire too


I made that mistake because I mistook the jack on the layout as the end jack...DOH.......man im glad you guys are here

Bias tap? A Princeton doesn't have a bias tap, but sources input to the bias circuit from the high voltage winding.

So did you mean a red/blue bias tap, or the wire from the rectifier tube (where the high voltage winding connects) over to the bias circuit?

its from high voltage winding....Doug has it as bias tap on layout....its fixed
